Miranda Townsend Headshot.jpeg

Miranda Lee Townsend is a mixed-media artist and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner based in Eastern Washington. Her abstract expressionism work explores healing, self-love, emotional resilience, and transformation through layered color, movement, texture, and symbolic form.

Working with paint, charcoal, pastels, ink, watercolor, and oil, Townsend creates vibrant compositions that hold both playfulness and depth. She approaches the creative process as a form of listening, allowing each piece to unfold organically and often discovering its meaning as she works.

Her clinical work in mental health deeply informs her artistic practice. Through both disciplines, she is drawn to the human capacity to survive, adapt, and grow in the face of emotional struggle. Her work has been featured in three consecutive years of Terrain and received an honorable mention from Art Business News for her mental health–focused body-stamping series. Townsend was also a featured artist at Avenue West Gallery in 2025.
